In our culture has been greatly influenced by the enlightenment era. The cry of enlightenment was “we can figure it out.” We can know what’s going on. But this approach runs out of gas quickly when talking about an infinite, eternal God. There is so much about God that will inevitably confound us and confuse us. The question arises- what will we do with our inability to understand when we stand face to face with mystery? In John 6 it led to some of the saddest words in scripture – “they never walked with Him again.” But what if our wrestling with doubt and mystery can be a formula to strengthen our faith and fuel our worship?
