Happy Birthday City Life Church! We want to give a shout out to Pastors Tom and Gail Wells for responding to God’s call and the Holy Spirit’s inspiration to plant a church out of Williamsburg, VA which became City Life Church of Newport News, VA in 2006. And we want to thank Pastors Michael and Heather Giroux for their faithfulness in answering that call to be the plant team pastors here. We are here today because of the faith, faithfulness, sacrifice, determination, and vision they planted into this church. When Vannessa and I came on staff in October of 2007 and then accepting the lead role in February of 2008, we didn’t know what the future would hold…but here we are 18 years later for the church and 16 years later for us and we are just as filled with vision and enthusiasm as we were at the start! Tonight’s message is two fold. First I want to share my prayer for you and our church as we are moving into 2024. Then a sermon that God started to build in my heart a few weeks ago during the worship set in one of our Saturday services. If you call City Life Church your home, I want to thank you for building with us. I am often reminded of how in Nehemiah as they were undertaking the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem, each family worked on the portion of the wall by their home. What a powerful prophetic picture of us! Let’s each keep building together, side by side, day by day, committing ourselves to the Kingdom work that God has put in front of us!
