“Go home.” These two words were said by a prominent pastor in response to the name Beth Moore in light of her ministry as a female leader in the Church. Many in the American Church would echo his view. They would consider women having prominent roles in the Church and the culture as a stain of progressivism. But what would the female’s place in the Church look like if we regressed to Jesus’ ministry? What would it look like if we regressed all the way back to Eden? This weekend the sermon is called “Matriarchs in the Margins,” as we look at the unique placement of women in Jesus’ genealogy, and what that might tell us of God’s view for matriarchs and women, as well as His heart for their voice, dignity, and contribution in the Kingdom.
