As we pick back up with our focus on Good News that we introduced at the end of January for our anniversary service, let me say again…Get Thee Up! This is going to become part of our language here at City Life Church because I believe it speaks so profoundly to our assigned here as a church. Our vision remains unchanged: to make Jesus easy to find in the 757. Our mission remains unchanged: to tell the story of the Gospel and to live the Way of Jesus. That mission is for the specific purpose of fulfilling our vision. And adding to those two clarifying, purpose driven statements…we have an assignment, unique to our church. See, our vision and mission one could argue are true for just about every Christ centered church. We share them…of course we might articulate them in various ways but ultimately, we are all here to reach people with the Gospel through witness and discipleship. But each church also has an assignment, a Kingdom purpose given to them by God. And ours I am convinced is found in Isaiah 40:9, that places are still set aside by God to be open heavens, to have a voice, to say to the world today “Behold your God!” And to that end, God has gathered 5 partner churches and 5 partner organizations all working together to invest in and improve upon these 5 acres and 40k square feet so that for generations to come 311 Selden Road will be a modern day Isaiah 40:9 space, a sacred place where people hear the proclamation “Behold you God!” Everything thing that we report tonight in our worship service and the annual business meeting to follow is to that end…the resources are for the purpose of seeing a vision realized through the mission we have enjoined while being faithful to the assignment He has ordained!
