Does God want to bless you in this life? Yes! Does that mean our lives will only move from one blessing to another without any hardship between blessings? No! But that doesn’t negate the fact God has blessings in store for us…in fact, I believe those blessings are best described by words borrowed from Ephesians 3:20, “…exceedingly, abundantly above…!” God wants to surprise us with joy. But maybe not only for the reasons we think. Sure He wants us to experience goodness and wonder and amazement and the excitement of knowing God’s hand was generous towards us. But the best kind of joy doesn’t come from our gain, it comes from using that gain to be a blessing to others in turn. That’s what tonight’s message is about, the mandate we have been given by Christ to be a blessing! And while we look into the texts that give us this mandate, we’ll also take a look at three cautions that come with this responsibility of being a blessing to others. First, His hand of blessing never requires conniving behavior. Second, His hand of blessing is not dependent on our self-percetiion. And finally, His hand of blessing ignores the objections of others. Thanks for joining us in this next installment in our Good News series!
