One of the hallmarks of church culture at City Life is that we want the Holy Spirit to have the freedom to move spontaneously in every ministry, especially in our worship services. Practically, this means the band needs to be prepared to lead songs that were not a part of the original set list. It means the Saturday Life Team (ushers/greeters) need to be flexible with in the moment changes to the order of service. It means the Tech team needs to be prepared to support all those changes with new slides, changes in video announcements, different lighting schemes, and etc. It is one thing to change things last minute because of poor planning and a lack of order. But it is something entirely different to accommodate last minute changes because the Holy Spirit has an agenda! At City Life, we are always submitted the agenda of the Holy Spirit! This message is an example of an in the moment change because of the Holy Spirit. Chris House began exhorting on the Blind Bartimaeus during the worship set and in that moment, the Holy Spirit began to speak to me about setting aside the sermon I had prepared for that night and to preach spontaneously and prophetically out of Mark 10:46-52, the story of Bartimaeus being healed by Jesus. I hope this message ministers to you as deeply as it did to all of us!
