What does it mean when the Bible says that man was created in God’s image? Speculation abounds, but it is worth noting that humanity was the one part of creation made in God’s image, and we are the one part of creation with language that allows for complex communication. God spoke us into existence, and we – created in his image – were created to speak and converse. And not just with each other – but with Him. In this summer series “Conversations” we will look at the glorious conversations people in the Bible had with God, and how those conversations resonate with us today, calling US to respond to a speaking God. This week we start our series toward the start of the Bible, in Genesis 4 with conversations between God and Cain. We generally characterize Cain as the “bad guy” in the story of Cain and Abel, but tonight we put ourselves in his shoes as we look at these complex conversations between Cain and God.
