How do we forgive well? In life we will be hurt by others, and we will have to forgive others. So how do we do it well? This was Peter’s question to Jesus in Matthew 18, and Jesus’ answer would indicate that we forgive well by not keeping count. But what does that mean exactly? “Forgive and forget” is the mantra of many, to the point some would be surprised to know it’s not anywhere in the Bible! Tonight we’ll look at the parable of the unforgiving debtor and how scripture teaches us the opposite – forgiveness shouldn’t be tied to forgetting, but to remembering.
