I hope everyone had a delicious Thanksgiving meal! We had a special treat with our middle son’s girlfriend’s family joining us. Both of her parents are from South America and they brought with them two kinds of homemade flan (custard like dessert) and large platter of arroz con gandules (a traditional rice dish)! Our Thanksgiving meal will never be the same again! That’s part of what makes Thanksgiving so fun, all the many different dishes to choose from as well as a selection of pies and other sweets for desserts. We recognize the inherent value in a diverse menu, that variety is enjoyable! But until the variety we love to celebrate at our table extends beyond the food we eat, we will never be the credible witness for The Gospel that people crave! As we wrap up our series entitled The Story tonight with the birthing of The Church in the early chapters of Acts, we cannot help but see that diversity was a core value of the first century church…and I believe it still should be central to churches today. In this message, we’ll talk about why diversity matters, how diversity is achieved, and when diversity is working. Let’s keep building the church Jesus envisioned, to love the world He died to save!
