Hosanna! This sacred Hebraic declaration has a two-fold meaning. First they are saying to Jesus during the Triumphal Entry that they believe that He has the power to save them. Secondly, this form of adoration carries a plea, “Will you save us?” They were waiting for a savior as they suffered under the oppression of Rome not realizing their deeper need for The Savior as they suffered even more under the oppression of sin. Every weekend we gather, we have the opportunity to repeat the moment of Jesus’ Triumphal Entry. But this time, we know He has already answered that original plea some 2,000 years ago with a resounding “YES!” He has saved us! Every weekend we gather at our churches, there will be people present who have yet to realize how much they suffer under the oppression of their own sin and that Jesus is the one who still saves. Our worship, both PUBLIC and PSALMIC, invites them to consider what they believe about Jesus and the forgiveness He still offers for sin. In this message we will be taking about the reason for worship that is both Public and Psalmic and how the Triumphal Entry wasn’t just an event that has happened…we still cry out to Him “Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
