Your praise has power! Paul implores us to remember that there are forces of darkness at work in this world. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, he writes in Ephesians 6 that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers…” and praise is a weapon of our warfare! In 1 Samuel 16 we are told that when David played his harp (a zamar praise) that the evil spirit that tormented King Saul would go away. And if we turn back the pages of Scripture some more we find Joshua conquering Jericho not with a charge from his best warriors but with the sound of trumpets and shouts of praise. Your praise has power! Are you ready to enter in…are you ready to posture and position your life in settings where the sound of praise is created by communities of people committed to worship? There are many reasons why the local church is paramount to God’s plan to reach the world with The Gospel but worship is certainly one of them. Every seven days you should be gathering with a body of believers so you can join your voice to the praise of that house of worship, creating an environment where evil cannot exist and pushing back against the forces of darkness in that city. Your praise has power! Tonight’s message will define both zamar and tehillah, both words translated as praise in Scripture. Will you be a person of praise?
