Have you ever had a bottle of something you really wanted to drink but didn’t have a way to open it? One of my favorites is Coke in a bottle, the Mexican version that is made with real cane sugar…so good! I was surprised to learn all the creative ways to open a bottle when our standard bottle opener can’t to be found. I’ve personally used the edge of hard surface like a table. I had a friend once who could open a bottle with his teeth, no thanks! I even saw a youtube video with a guy opening a bottle with a hundred dollar bill!…I tried with a dollar bill twice, couldn’t do it. Maybe you need Ben instead of George! So here’s my question. What would happen if we stopped reading the Bible as just an accurate history of what has happened and started reading it as collection of God’s promises for today? Well, as we read in the story of Jesus’ resurrection, we find Him opening some things that I believe are more than history…they are promises for how He intends to open things still today!
