Did you know that Nehemiah was born in captivity? Have you ever read the story of Nehemiah, and halfway through the first chapter thought to yourself, “Of course his heart broke for Jerusalem…he remembered his home, longed for his home, yearned for Israel to be restored to its former glory!” But Nehemiah had never been there. He was born in Babylon. But what Nehemiah did have was a promise. So we see, Nehemiah’s passion was not rooted in nostalgia nor entitlement but rather from a holy sense of responsibility and contagious zeal for the promises of God to be made manifest! What about you? Will you make room in your heart for the Holy Spirit to birth in you a faith, a holy sense of responsibility, a contagious zeal for the promises of Jesus to be made manifest in your city, in your lifetime, in our city…in our lifetime? This mini-summer series is going to explore how I plan to challenge our church, to Come Build With Me here in the 757. Ever church has fans, every church has friends, every church has family…but it’s something entirely different to be a builder. I’m going to teach in this series three aspects of every builder in a local church, not just any sort of builder but a Nehemiah builder! The imagery for the accompanying media are bridges. Why? Because bridges evoke the feeling of journey, crossing over from one side to the next. Will you come with me, crossing over from fan, friend, or family…to the side of being a builder? Our City, Our Lifetime!
