In 1 Kings 19 we find one of the ultimate heroes of the Old Testament – the prophet Elijah – burnt out, depressed, and seemingly suicidal. He shows us that even a flurry of GOOD activity can be problematic if we don’t mind our pace and practice pressing pause. In our culture where we wear “busy” like a badge and the chorus is “more is better,” how do we avoid ending up in our own version of 1 Kings 19? We’ll look at how God brings Elijah out of his spiraling burn out and empowers him to finish his life strong. Specifically, we’ll dig into three big picture perspective shifts necessary to reclaim rest and practice purposeful pauses, in addition to adopting a handful of practical steps to walk in it starting now!
