As the popular saying goes, “heroes are made, not born.” But for every hero, there is almost always a hero maker- a mentor or guide that introduces them to a higher purpose and keeps them on the right path. Individuals who become do great things rarely do them alone. But we often buy into the lie that if there’s greatness within us, we don’t need others to tap into that greatness. Because- after all- it’s within us! But we all need others who will go with us. We need people who will help us walk in our purpose and tap into God’s destiny for us. We see it throughout the Bible. Mordecai and Esther. Naomi and Ruth. And tonight we’ll look at Elijah and Elisha. These stories show us that any call to do great things for God will intersect with others. And we don’t need travel agents who simply give us some tips and tell us “good luck.” We need people that go with us. We need guides. It’s why Road Rule #5 is this – “Get a tour guide, not a travel agent.” It is the game changer that God uses to unlock the heroes among us!
