This is the last message in the series Come Build With Me, a study in the life of Nehemiah. Nehemiah is arguably one of the most significant builders in Biblical history. In fact, I believe that the partnership between Nehemiah and Ezra is one of the most instructive relationships in Scripture that model for us what it means for a church to be healthy. Maybe that will be another series in our future! You see, in order for a church to be healthy, there needs to strong, God honoring governance and organizational structure (Nehemiah) AND God honoring, vibrant devotion to spiritual well being and maturity (Ezra). But…another series for another time! Tonight we add the third and final aspect to what it means to be a builder in the church you call home. We have discussed that to be a builder, you Chip In, you Help Out, and tonight’s phrase…you Show Up. We are going to take a creative approach through this message regarding the idea of showing up at church. I want to explore how our personal relationship with Jesus should also be accompanied by a public ministry with Jesus. In fact, I am going to assert in this message that if your personal relationship with Jesus is healthy, then you MUST have a public ministry with Jesus. And that public ministry should be communal, contagious, and courageous. I hope that through this series, whatever church you call home, you won’t just be family there, you will be a BUILDER, a Kingdom Builder, because you believe that the promises of Jesus can be made manifest in your city, your lifetime!
