Our middle son graduated from college last weekend. There must have been over thirty thousand people in attendance, in an outdoor area on campus having been drenched by an overnight and early morning downpour. The rain was still falling but tens of thousands of proud family members would not be deterred! My wife Vannessa was recovering from partial knee replacement surgery just a few weeks prior, and this was her first outing. Surrounded by family members and with the help of a cane she maneuvered through the ever pressing crowd like a person with a security detail. Towards the end of ceremony, we had agreed on a meeting point with our son. He sent us a text with a pin dropped on our Iphone map. We hadn’t seen him all morning and couldn’t wait for his embrace. We opened our maps app and just kept moving toward that pin, adjusting our path along the way, keeping that pin in focus, determined to arrive at our destination. Jesus has sent us a pin in life. And that pin is entitled togetherness! Are you moving towards or away from that pin? In this final message, this two part sermon as part of a large sermon series, we are examining how we can move toward togetherness. And although moving towards togetherness requires a multitude of disciplines and priorities, three of them are most certainly to love one another: relentlessly, sacrificially, and forgivingly. We explored those first two in Part One and will now pick up with loving one another forgivingly. Thank you for listening!
