The Harvard Dean of Education once said in a commencement address: ‘“Wait, what?” is actually a very effective way of asking for clarification. “Wait what?” is at the root of understanding.” How often do we miss out on understanding God better because we won’t stop to ask “wait, what?” when reading His word? Often hard to understand texts are an invitation to a deeper understanding and relationship of God. This weekend we RSVP again, this time looking at the passage in Mark 8 where Jesus spits in a blind man’s face and then (as if that isn’t wild enough on its own) seemingly fails to heal him on the first try. What on earth is going on here? How did it speak to his disciples, and how does it speak to and impact us today?
