Well you might not be a Lynard Skynard fan but their song That Smell is quite prophetic! The chorus goes: “Ooh, that smell, Can’t you smell that smell? Ooh that smell, The smell of death surrounds you.” That’s what the Apostle Paul said too! In 2 Corinthians 2:15-16 Paul writes about the fragrance or Christ and how that fragrance is glorious to others who follow Jesus but to everyone else it is the smell of death. What does that mean? We talk about that very thing in tonight’s message. But we go further, just as Paul and the Holy Spirit intended. The idea of the fragrance of Christ calls to us! My life has an odor. Your life has an odor. There is a fragrance we carry into this world…”Ooh that smell, Can’t you smell that smell?” When Jesus knelt and washed the feet of the disciples and shared the Passover meal with them and challenged them to continue as He had done, He wasn’t just talking about those traditions, although those traditions matter greatly…He was talking about living by His example. What do you smell like? Is your life carrying the fragrance of the character of Christ in the world, your world, everywhere you are? What’s that smell?
