The ancient Greeks were master storytellers. As philosophers and thinkers they took their observations on the human condition and projected them on their epic tales and amplified them through tales of gods and dieties. Narcissus and Echo speak to our tendency to fall in love with people who look and talk like us. And this kind of narcissism and tribalism has plagued man since Genesis. What does the Bible say about this inclination to division that litters our history, and how do we work our way toward the picture perfect unity that awaits us in Revelation 4? In addition to a message and mission, every church has a “moment,” whether they are intentional and aware of it or not. How do we work toward a moment that looks like Revelation 4? And how do we keep the division that would sneak through the back door out of our church?
